In a peer-reviewed paper recently published in Health Affairs, members of the GenderSci Lab collaborated with colleagues at the Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Law School, Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Swarthmore College to offer the first systematic analysis of the use of gender/sex related variables in clinical algorithms across medical specialties. Through the examination of 602 existing clinical algorithms, we document the extent to which gender/sex variables are included in these tools, how they are used, and with what consequences for patient care.

This week, members of the GenderSci Lab published a new piece in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Authored by Annika Gompers, Ann Caroline Danielsen, and Sarah Richardson, this piece delves into how the gendered realities of women and men’s sports could affect how injury rates are captured.
